Culburra House: Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire

3 weeks & 5 days to go until completion of sale and we’re madly getting building planning finalised. We’re working literally day and night (with the help of the odd Chardonnay!), finishing supplier quotes, revising and reworking final details, cracking the whip on our long-suffering engineers and surveyors to submit council applications, and ordering building supplies – all to enable building work to start on Day One one of ownership… (deep breaths)… Well, that’s the plan anyway.  I’m so looking forward to the fun part of pure decorating!  Having said that, I’ve already started by designing a new fireplace (to install a Jetmaster fire) for the sitting room as there’s nothing quite like a roaring fire to snuggle up next to in the dead of winter with a glass of something bubbly in one hand, and toasting marshmallows with the other! And to make sure we’ve got all angles covered, I’m also planning a 5 burner BBQ with rotisserie for the deck, so we can swap the marshmallows for juicy hunks of fillet steak… or Tiger prawns… or butterflied lamb.  In the words of the esteemed Homer Simpson, ‘Mmmmmmm… ‘!
